Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi is a multi-award-winning composer whose interest span from contemporary concert music to functional music. This trait is reflected in his awards: the `George Enescu` Grand Prix for the best orchestral work (2014), the `Tenso Young Composer Prize` for the best vocal ensemble piece (2015) or the `Golden Eye` offered by the Zürich Film Festival for the best symphonic soundtrack for the animation `Happiness` by Steve Cutts (2018). He studied music composition in Romania, Great Britain and France, his music being performed all around the world by established ensembles and orchestras. He finished his PhD in 2018 at the National University of Music of Bucharest, having Dan Dediu as his doctoral adviser and long time mentor and he taught composition, orchestration and musical forms in the same institution. Obtaining two Erasmus scholarships, he studied composition with Stefano Gervasoni during his doctoral studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse from Paris, and with Joe Cutler, Howard Skempton, and Ed Bennett during his Masters at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi is now pursuing a 2nd Masters in functional music at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (Zürich, Switzerland). His music has been performed all around the world by ensembles and orchestras such as: Diotima quartet, BBC Singers, Tonhalle Orchestra, Shanghai orchestra and others.
